Odoo has published a customer story about Champion Petive, a Hong Kong pet food business that put its sales, inventory and accounting on Odoo in its first year of trading. We were the implementation partner.
The company
Champion Petive sells pet food and supplies through several channels at once: online shopping malls, veterinary clinics and pet shops. Different channels, different order patterns, one stock pool.
Why they moved early
Most companies wait until the spreadsheets break before looking at ERP. Champion Petive decided in its founding year that it wanted proper systems from the start, rather than untangling several years of inconsistent records later.
That decision made the project simpler. There was no legacy data to migrate and no established habits to unpick. The implementation took two to three months.
What was built
Sales orders from all channels come into one place, connected to the eCommerce module. Order automation was one of the features they use most: orders are sorted by spend and the matching customer pricing is applied automatically, so tiered pricing does not need to be checked by hand on every order.
Inventory updates in real time as sales are recorded. For a retailer holding perishable stock this matters twice over, so the system emails the team when a product is running low and when a batch is approaching its expiry date. Both are easy to miss manually and expensive when missed.
Because everything sits on one platform, accounting stopped being a separate exercise in re-entering what sales and inventory already knew.
What we take from it
The interesting part is the timing. Implementing at the start looks like an expense you could defer, but it is far cheaper than migrating three years of inconsistent data later. Companies that wait usually pay for the same system twice: once to build it, once to clean up what came before.
