When a message arrives on your phone, the sync engine detects it through the active paired session. Text content is immediately written to a structured log file with fields including:
- message_id — Unique identifier for deduplication
- timestamp — Exact send/receive time in ISO 8601 format
- chat_name — Individual contact name or group title
- sender — Phone number and display name
- message_type — text, image, video, audio, document, sticker, location, contact
- content — The actual text body or file path reference
- is_group — Boolean flag for group vs individual chat
- quoted_message_id — Reference to replied/quoted messages
For media files, the engine downloads the binary, computes an integrity checksum, and stores it in a dated folder structure: /backups/YYYY-MM/ChatName/file.ext

Will this get my WhatsApp account banned?
No. The system operates within normal usage patterns. It functions similarly to how WhatsApp Web works on your browser — it is a linked device, not an automated spam bot.
Can I access historical messages from before I installed the system?
The system captures messages from the moment of pairing forward. It cannot retroactively download messages that were sent before the QR code was scanned, as those are not stored on WhatsApp’s servers for new devices.
How much storage do I need?
Storage depends on your chat volume and media sharing habits. Text-only backups are tiny (megabytes). Media-heavy users should plan for 10–50 GB per year. You control the retention policy.
Does the phone need to stay online?
Yes. Your phone must remain connected to the internet for the sync engine to receive messages. If your phone is offline, messages will backfill automatically once it reconnects.
Can I disconnect or revoke access?
Absolutely. You can unlink the system at any time from your phone (Settings > Linked Devices > Log Out). This instantly terminates the session and stops all archiving.
