There are plenty of website builders. The reason to use Odoo’s is not the editor \u2014 it is what the pages can show.<\/p>\n

A site with five good pages beats one with twenty thin ones.<\/p>\n The most valuable feature in the builder, and the most underused.<\/p>\n A form on your Odoo site can create a lead in CRM directly<\/strong>. No email to somebody’s inbox that gets missed. No copying details across.<\/p>\n Setting one up:<\/strong><\/p>\n Keep the fields short.<\/strong> Name, email, and what they need. Every extra field costs you submissions, and you can ask the rest on the phone.<\/p>\n Test it.<\/strong> Submit it yourself and confirm a lead appears in CRM with a notification going to the right person. Forms that quietly stopped working are more common than you would think.<\/p>\n Underused, and often more valuable than the public pages.<\/p>\n Logged-in customers can see their quotations, orders, delivery status, invoices and payment history. They can accept a quotation and pay online.<\/p>\n For a B2B business this often saves more time than the website makes in enquiries.<\/strong> Every “where is my order” email it prevents is time back.<\/p>\n It is enabled in settings and requires no building. If it is switched off, switch it on.<\/p>\n Odoo has the standard tools built in: page titles, meta descriptions, alt text on images, clean URLs, sitemap generation, and analytics integration.<\/p>\n The tools are fine. But a layout that looks balanced on a wide screen can stack awkwardly on a narrow one, and long tables rarely survive the transition.<\/p>\n The builder has a mobile preview. Use it on every page, not just the home page.<\/p>\n Does well:<\/strong><\/p>\n Does less well:<\/strong><\/p>\n A reasonable position:<\/strong> if your site needs to show live business data, build it in Odoo. If it is a pure brand showcase with an unusual design, you may want a designer and a different tool \u2014 and you can still put the portal and shop on Odoo.<\/p>\n Too many pages.<\/strong> Five good ones beat twenty thin ones, for readers and for search engines.<\/p>\n Forms that go nowhere.<\/strong> Set up, never tested, quietly broken.<\/p>\n Copied product descriptions.<\/strong> Invisible to search engines.<\/p>\n Never checked on mobile.<\/strong> Where most of your visitors are.<\/p>\n Portal left switched off.<\/strong> Free value, sitting unused.<\/p>\n No clear action on any page.<\/strong> A page that does not tell the reader what to do next does not achieve anything.<\/p>\n FIGURE 3: A SITE THAT WORKS AND ONE THAT DOES NOT<\/p>\n Working<\/p>\n Not working<\/p>\n Point 2 is the one that saves the most time.<\/strong> Writing in a page builder is slow, and the design distracts from the words.<\/p>\n Odoo’s website builder is capable and its real advantage is live data<\/strong> \u2014 real products, real stock, forms that create leads, and a portal your customers can use.<\/p>\n Build five good pages, write your own copy, test the forms, and check it on a phone.<\/p>\n And turn on the portal.
